I was born in the windy city of Chicago and have been long
winded with words ever since. At the ripe old age of eleven, I was the editor
of our small school newspaper. I knew there was a problem when I found the
intoxicating smell of mimeograph ink, more alluring than my Barbie perfume.
While raising my two children I occasionally dabbled with
writing and made the mistake of thinking of it as a "hobby" versus my
passion. Every once in a while I would grab some paper and begin writing the
stories that lived inside of me. Then one day I got serious.
I got some courage and began submitting my writings. Though
the rejections kept coming, I believed in myself, and the insatiable hunger I
had to write. After winning some awards for my writing, I knew that a higher
power than I, was directing my footsteps.
Here I am at the CBA Convention during a book signing, along with Tina Atchenson, Marketing and Sales Director for New Hope Publishers.
Here's what's new with my life.
I work in Disaster Recovery and we have been very
busy helping the churches prepare and train to help Haiti. Please pray, pray,
pray for the survivors. It will take years ,to bring restoration to their
physical lives and their battered souls.
My grandbaby is walking and Gram here is
getting a workout. I mean, how many times can a baby circle the house?
In between disasters and babies, I am
tenaciously working on writing, which has the ability to "center" me
and keep me sane. If life is not going like I'd like it to, I just re-write it!
Today I am thanking the Lord for my many blessings
and eagerly looking forward to what he has planned for me to do next, and He
never fails to surprise me. Write and let me know
what's going on in your life.
